We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of legendary musician Glen Hansard.
Glen was such an integral part of our CAMINO VOYAGE documentary.
We also got to make two subsequent music videos with Glen for LEAVE A LIGHT and GOOD LIFE OF SONG.
Glen brought such light and energy to everything that he did! What a loss he is to his family and to us all!
The last time that I met Glen and his wife Maire and son Christy (aged 3 at the time) was at Manchán Magan’s month’s mind commemoration on Uisneach last year.
My 10-year old son Oisín brought two hurleys and a sliotar with him to pass the time; 6 hours can seem like a lifetime for a young boy.
After the ceremony concluded at the very top of Uisneach, Oisín gave young Christy his very first hurling lesson.
And Glen and I joked that when Christy was older and people would asked him where he first learned hurling his answer would surprise them:
Where did you learn? Uisneach
And who first taught you? Oisín!
What a mythological start to any journey.
That was Glen – always open to wonder!
Maire and Christy we hold you in our hearts.
Glen, you are and will always be so deeply missed.
